Women Development Cell

The Women Development Cell (WDC) works towards promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, safety, and equal opportunities across the University and its constituent colleges. It organizes awareness, capacity-building, and skill-development activities and promotes a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment for women.

To nurture a gender-sensitive, inclusive, safe, and equitable academic ecosystem enabling all women to achieve their full potential.

Mission

To promote gender equality and empower women by creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment through awareness, capacity building, institutional support, and continuous engagement. The WDC aims to strengthen women’s rights, enhance leadership and professional skills, and support their holistic well-being by fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and equal opportunity across the University and its constituent colleges.

Objectives

  • To create awareness regarding gender equality, legal rights, and women’s welfare.
  • To organize workshops, seminars, and training programs on women empowerment and skill development.
  • To prevent gender discrimination and promote a safe and inclusive environment.
  • To provide support and guidance to women facing academic, personal, and professional challenges.
  • To collaborate with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for awareness and support.
  • To foster leadership, career advancement, entrepreneurship, and technical skill development among women.

Meeting – 06 August 2025

The seminar “Nurturing Through Knowledge” was organised on 6th August 2025 for female students of Sarvajanik University. The programme aimed to provide participants with valuable insights into health, nutrition, and nurturing practices. The seminar encouraged awareness and knowledge sharing on important aspects of well-being and healthy living, empowering students to make informed choices regarding their health and nutrition.

Meeting – 22 August 2025

A Pap Test Awareness programme was organised on 22nd August 2025 to create awareness among female students about the importance of regular health screening and preventive care. The programme aimed to encourage students to understand the significance of the Pap test and the role of timely screening in maintaining women's health. The session promoted awareness, informed decision-making, and a proactive approach towards personal health and well-being.

Meeting – 09 September 2025

Meeting – 16 January 2026

An NRI Marriage Awareness Seminar was organised on 16th January 2026 to create awareness among students about the various aspects and challenges associated with NRI marriages. The seminar aimed to provide students with important information regarding legal awareness, personal safety, informed decision-making, and precautions to be considered before entering into an NRI marriage. The programme encouraged participants to be aware of their rights and responsibilities and to make informed choices.

The “Samatvam – Gender Sensitization” programme was organised on 10th March 2026 to promote awareness about gender equality, mutual respect, dignity, and inclusive behaviour. The programme aimed to sensitise participants towards gender-related issues and encourage a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment within the University community.
