- Prof Kiran Pandya has an outstanding career with PhD from University of Sussex (UK) and was awarded prestigious Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship. He obtained an MPhil degree with ‘A’ Grade from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune.He was Member of National Statistical Commission, Government of India for three years during July 15, 2019 – July, 2022. National Statistical Commission is an advisory body of the Government of India under the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation.
- Professor Kiran Pandya serve as the Dean of Commerce and Management Faculty and the Director of Shrimad Rajchandra Instittute of Management and Computer Application. Prior to this he provided academic leadership as Provost with Drs Kiran and Pallavi Patel Global University, Vadodara during September, 2021 to August, 2022.
- Prof Pandya has more than 40 years experience of teaching, research and academic administration. He served as a Professor & Head of the Department of Human Resource Development, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University during 2006 to 2021,.
- Prof Pandya has rich research experience. He has not only carried out several research projects, but he trained young minds by associating them in his research work. He designed and introduced courses related to research methodology and statistical analysis. He served on the advisory board of a research project on Early Childhood Development, sponsored by the British Academy - Global Challenge Research Fund (BA-GCRF), hosted by the Durham University (UK). Besides, he has carried out a major research project sponsored by ICSSR on Menstrual Hygiene among women of Gujarat. He has led two major UNDP sponsored, Government (of Gujarat) research projects on the preparation of the District Human Development Reports of Surat and Tapi districts. Apart from this, he has led and worked on two allied research projects of the Government of Gujarat. He has served on different Committees of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Prof Pandya is a reviewer and a Member, Editorial Board to various reputed national and international peer-reviewed academic journals. He has led the teams to undertake / conduct surveys on different corporate issues and CSR activities undertaken by the companies. The projects were funded by respective companies in the corporate sector. Prof Pandya has successfully guided 28 doctoral and 5 MPhil students.
- Recently, Professor Pandya published a book titled ‘Public Health and Menstrual Hygiene Practices in India: Practices, Costs, and Equity Issues ’, jointly with two other co-authors. He is one of the co-authors to a research paper that based on his orginal research work, published in Oxford Economic Papers. His book titled “Statistical Analysis in Simple Steps using R” which is jointly written with two co-authors is published by Sage Publishers. This book is widely accepted in the markets of USA, UK and Australia. He has also written a book titled “SPSS in Simple Steps”, with two co-authors. This book too, has received an overwhelming response in Indian Market and had to be reprinted within two years of its first publication. A textbook on Quantitative Methods, written in Gujarati and widely accepted at postgraduate level across different educational institutions and universities in Gujarat was sponsored by UGC.
- He has been nominated as a Chairman, Curriculum Committee, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). He was also a consultant to the Gujarat Textbooks Board, where two textbooks were prepared under his supervision, right at the higher secondary level of education.
- Prof Pandya has an equally rich administrative experience exposure as Head of the Post Graduate Department, Dean of Arts Faculty, Registrar, Dean of College Development Council and Director of IQAC, and has made important contributions in policy making by serving on different decision making bodies in the University. He was a Government nominated Syndicate Member in the University which the highest decision making body. He has also served the University in different capacities as Chairman, Board of Studies; Member, Academic Council and Member of Board of University Teaching. Besides, he also served as Member, Board of Studies in Economics, Business Economics and Labour Welfare in other State and Private Universities. He was appointed as Member, UGC, Expert Committee to assess performance during the X-Plan Period and to evaluate the requirements for the XI Plan for the International Hindi University, Wardha. Apart from that he has been invited as experts by GPSC, ICSSR, Universities, Academic Staff Colleges and other institutions of importance.
- Academic merit of Prof Pandya is also recognized by professional bodies. Professor Pandya was selected as a president for the 49th Annual Conference of the Gujarat Economic Association and also delivered the presidential address. For past fifteen years, he is providing academic leadership to professionals of Economics being a convener of Forum of Teachers of Economics in the South Gujarat region / area. He is being invited for special lectures in Refresher Courses, Workshops, Training Programmes and Faculty Development Programmes.
- Prof Pandya has held important positions in the corporate sector as well. He served as an Independent Non-Official Director of a Public Sector Undertaking of the Government of India - WAPCOS, during 2017-19. He has made significant contributions as a Chairman of the Audit Committee and as a Member of the CSR Committee of WAPCOS. With his rare blend of academic depth, administrative acumen, research rigour, and commitment to societal challenges, Prof. Kiran Pandya continues to shape the future of higher education, evidence-based policy, and inclusive development in India.
